Why is losing weight so hard?

Why is losing weight so hard? And it gets even tougher as you get older. Actually, it's not just losing weight—it's hard even to maintain my current weight and not keep gaining.

But I am not giving up. I have to lose weight so I can wear the clothes I love. I want to reach my ideal weight while I still can.
